Please see the link “End of Life” for more information. Another important aspect of COL is to provide animals and their families with a respite from the stress that often accompanies the transport and visit to a traditional veterinary clinic. The house call experience can greatly decrease anxiety in some patients who have a hard time riding in the car or being exposed to the barrage of new sights, noises, and scents in a hospital. Home visits can be more convenient for many people with busy schedules or those who do not drive.

Dr. Savage lives in Sebastopol with her husband, also a veterinarian, two stepsons, 2 dogs, 4 cats, 8 chickens, and various fish. Favorite past times include spending time hiking with her dogs or just watching the chickens range in the yard. When possible, she is a volunteer for local wild life rescue, a veteran of the US Air Force, and volunteers to help homeless people and their animals.

Circle of Life (COL) was created by Dr. Rhonda Savage who has been practicing quality medicine in the Bay area for over fourteen years. She graduated from the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in the year 2000 and has worked extensively in both emergency and general practice settings.

Dr. Savage is known for her compassionate approach and excellent medical skill. Dr. Savage started COL with a desire to spend more time nurturing her patients and giving attention to her client’s concerns than possible during a traditional office visit. COL is founded on the belief that the whole animal being from birth until death should be cared for with respect and empathy. She adapts her approach to conditions that change as the animal ages - different consideration is given to the needs of a puppy or kitten verses a senior citizen for example. Dr. Savage has a special affinity for geriatric patients and a calling to provide the best possible care during the transition from advanced age to the end of life. She helps you honor the bond you have with your pet during this most precious time by providing chronic pain relief and hospice care when needed.
